Travel through time and let yourself get involved in these ancient ruins that still amazes and make you wonder how the city was during those times. Get a hat, tons of sunblock, good sporty shoes and a bottle of fresh water and get ready to walk a lot while you admire this ruins.

If you're passing through Myra en route to another destination it is worth the stop. The site is interesting and has some very nice views, however it is crowded with tourists who jump over the safety fences to get good photos, and in doing so they are damaging the ruins. There are annoying touts all along the way to the... More

Those rock cut tombs are not unique, can be seen in many places. Theatre was OK. Do not expect to see a lot of ruins.

The site in Myra is small and likely overrun with tourists in the height of the season. We were there late September and later on in the day which was preferable. I was speechless at the skill evident in the rock tombs - how did they carve these tombs and their decoration on bald rock faces? Myra is a great... More

Very like petra in jordan only not as big. These tombs are curved on a mountain and are really amazing. also visited the church where the real St Nichlos was buried. He was Turkish. had a lovely lunch in a nearby eatery and the food was good and not expensive. Always eat where the locals eat and you will not... More

Sightseeing of St.Nicolas Church preceded the visit to rock tombs in Myra. When we left the Church and were going by bus from the Church to Myra, our guide spoke mainly about traditions and funerals of lykians and people which were born in these lands. Everything around was filled with some spirit of ancientry, or soul of ancient civilizations... and... More

The rock tombs, and the theater, are easily accessible, very close to the walkway, and well explained with signs in English. It's not hard to find this site, and it's not far off the main highway, nor from St. Nicholas Church. So if you are in the area I definitely recommend you visit. HOWEVER, be very careful about the parking... More

Reflections about how to go to the Myra and Demre (to take the car or with organized group by the bus) have moved towards the organized excursion. Powerful argument became walk on the yacht along island Kekova and bathing in the high sea from the yacht. In advance we have discussed, that the group of tourists was not so big.... More
