The private collection of Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat opened to the public in 2008 in a modern building at the end of the Dique 4, near Buquebus, in Puerto Madero. The numerous paintings are displayed along the wall of long, spacious hallways on 4 floors with the top floor including artifacts from Egypt and Greece. My favorite paintings are those... More

the location and the building are great, if you go during late evening you´ll have a spendid show on the ceiling shades with the falling sun over the harbour, the collection itself is mainly local art, some of it quite good.

In the beautifully designed building (Rafael Viñoly, Uruguay) in the rapidly growing neighbourhood of Puerto Madero sits this great art collection. Peppered with a few foreign painters (Turner, Dali, Warhol, Brueghel) you will find a very extensive show of Argentinian painters, mostly from the 20th Century .

For some reason most of the guidebooks that we used in preparing for the trip and while there talk very little about the Puerto Madero neighborhood and this museum in particular. It's a shame because the neighborhood is a great place to hang out away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown. It is just a short walk, but... More

We were so surprised when we arrived in the first gallery of this amazing art collection! To believe that one woman collected this much art is astounding! We thoroughly enjoyed all of it. Too bad she just passed away last week. Definitely a must-do in Buenos Aires and a great way to experience Puerto Madero, too.

Pretty good collection for a private one. It is in Puerto Madero so you also tour the neighborhood and eat at one of the many restaurants. The building was erected specially for the collection, very modern and original.

It's my second time at Colección Fortabat. In the first one, on February, it wasn't listed at tripadvisor yet! And that's a good measure of how this spetacular place is still a hidden gem. Having visited the most important museums in Buenos Aires at least once, and some of them twice or three times, now I can say for sure... More

It is a quiet museum (in fact, a private collection open to the public) with great pieces of Argentine art as well as international ones. The building is really an architectural creation worth visiting. I just loved the works of Berni, Xul Solar, Carlos Alonso and Lascano. Some of the international painters are Warhol, Dali and Chagall. It is easy... More

Good collection of both Argentinian and international art. Especially liked the Carlos Antonioni selection. The audio guide in English was helpful, if not inspired. Very quiet when we went, a hidden gem perhaps...
