Sure, I'd read about the Recoleta Cemetery before my trip to Buenos Aires ... but nothing prepared me for the enormity and intricacy of this historic place. While it was sort of interesting seeing the tomb of Eva Peron (the biggest "draw" there), the real fun came from wandering the "streets" and admiring the architecture and artwork of the thousands... more

Walk around for an hour, then have lunch at Locos por Futbol across the street -- good lunch, cute patio, futbol on TV and a view of the cemetary. more

We spent a few hours here. We bought a map and of course went to see Evita's mausoleum, but we did not know many of the other Argentinean poets/politicians/etc. buried here so we just wandered around, taking pictures of interesting monuments/mausoleums, and playing with several of the cats that live here. If you are a cat lover, like I am,... more

The Recoleta Cemetery is an amazing place but to really get the most out of it I would strongly recomend doing it as part of a walking tour. We were staying near there and so wandered in on our first evening. It is amazing but with little information on site and the maps really only say who's buried where, it... more

A great sight, interesting to wonder and wander .... Across the street is a fine cafe under the shade of a 200 yr old tree (Bielo) or go across the street to Aromas and get the same view without the atmosphere and prices... Don't miss the Buenos Aires Design Center next to the cemetary -- great shopping especially for household... more

We started our 4-day visit in B.A. with an orientation bus tour around the city. It was Saturday morning, and very hot, and when we got to the cemetery, we could see it was very crowded (people who went in said it was so jammed it was hard to walk down many of the "streets.") So we stayed at the... more

Recoleta is obviously one of the "tourist attractions" in Buenos Aires, but for good reason - the tombs there are absolutely amazing! Some date back hundreds of years and they are beautiful and extremely ornate - there's one we saw with a mosaic inside the dome; many have stained-glass windows; and they can be as much as 40 or so... more

You cannot bypass Recoleta Cemetery in BA. It is located in the Recoleta district, which is a hill.It is the most fascinating place to spend time in this city. All the tombs are pieces of art.The sculptures on the crypts are so beautiful that you wish to be buried right then and there. There are tombs for very famous Argentinians,... more

Fascinating but very creepy. So I gave it "above average" just for how interesting of a tourist spot this is. I give it a "terrible" however for the spirits-floating-around-you factor. Both my wife and I were freaked out by this place. At first we were all interested in the different crypts but as we got deeper in among them we... more
