I suppose you have to at least walk down it once, to say you have. But this is not a nice street. Very touristy. Expect also to get harrassed by people trying to pass things out to you and get you into their shop or restaurant. Mostly, there are just tooooo many people on the street at the same time.... more

Overview: Calle Florida is a street that Buenos Aires has converted to a pedestrian walking path. It has been completely tiled in black and white tiles and has an attractive appearance. This street serves as a walking path from Avenida de Mayo to another popular plaza in Buenos Aires and is a safe way to get around the city. There... more

We were there for 5 days in March '08. Daily we walked and enjoyed the street. Yes there are hawkers/salespeople, but we just smiled and continued. The US$ was low, but my wife still managed to buy a 3/4 length soft subtle lambskin leather coat lined with rabbit fur for under US$250. Cafe Florida boasts the best coffe in BA... more

Florida Street is a typical arentinina walk, built more than two century ago, and still has that glamorous touch. It starts at the beautiful Plaza San Martin, an incredible square, with very nice views and a war monument. Florida Street is a nice, elegant walk. I recommend the blocks from Alem Av. To Cordoboa Av.. Going further not so nice:... more

My Hotel was right by this street...At first, it looks really lively and packed with things to do, but in reality, this is just a pedestrian street filled with leather merchants harassing you, and fast food joints...I walked by it several times, and after two strolls, I just got bored...I was really bothered by the amount of women laying on... more

Calle Florida is a long pedestrian mall on a street closed to traffic. It's a tourist attraction and we found the hawkers relentless and annoying Gallerias Pacifico was a notable exception that provided a more genteel shopping experience away from the street. Street vendors offered mediocre products and the street seemed uncomfortable later in the day as a tougher crowd... more

My husband and I stayed only a few blocks from Calle Florida for two weeks last month. We walked the street almost daily so I became very familiar with what it has to offer. I believe the street is about a mile long from Avenida de Mayo to San Martin Plaza. You will find all kinds of services along with... more

I thought that Calle Florida was awful. I thought the shopping was VERY second rate (especially compared to the other places in Buenos Aires - Palermo, San Telmo, Avenida Cabildo, Recoleta, ferias), the place was far too busy, everything was overpriced and it felt very sterile - like any other big city in the whole world. I wouldn't recommend it.... more

If you want to get some serious shopping done go to Calle Florida while you are in Buenos Aires. There are stores ranging from Lacoste to Nike up and down this great place. There is also the Galerias Pacificas mall which was more great stores. Since my hotel was close to Calle Florida I also ate there a few times... more
