This is in a real neighborhood of BA, away from the tourists and touts. During Sunday, the place comes to life with stalls selling everything from wool scarves to garbanzo beans at amazingly cheap prices for BA. But the real fun is in the dancing. There were performers on stage, then when they were done the musicians kept playing so... More

We read in various guide books that the Feria De Mataderos in South West Buenos Aires (120 blocks from the center and 70 pesos by taxi ) is operating from December to March on Saturdays evenings and from April to November all day Sunday! Wrong !! No bodu new exactly untill we went twice ther on February. On Saturday evening... More

The Feria de Mataderos is a huge celebration of Argentinian folklore and crafts that takes place most Sundays of the year (this does depend on the season and also on the weather -- on rainy days it's most definitely off!) in the Mataderos district of Buenos Aires, bordering on Provincia de Buenos Aires. An enormous stage is set up outside... More

I loved the atmosphere of Feria de Mataderos! I felt as though I was in a different country as compared to the tourist trappings of San Telmo Feria. With its gauchos, dancers and musicians this fair is organized for and by local people, not for tourists. We enjoyed watching the women in their colorful dresses dancing with the men in... More

Out of the city, takes about 1 hour to go there by bus but totally worth it! All is cheaper than in the central areas of Buenos Aires, you'll find nice things to eat, traditional dancers dancing in the streets and little argentinian things to buy. Go at the daytime thought. Not too many bathrooms available.

We caught bus 55 from near Acoyte metro station, interesting stuffs, mostly leather hand made, food stalls had tasty food tried Locro, humita, tamales. My Spanish is really bad but people were very helpful. Bought few souvenirs like a mate cup, bull horn etc. You can cover the whole market in 2 hours. There is no entry fee, music and... More

This is a experience for those who want to have a non tourist experience. There is no metro lines nearby, but colectivo will take you there (check it out this buses: 8. 21, 28, 63, 92, 126, 180) It will be easy, just look for Suárez Justo Antonio 6900 in the Guía T. Once you get there, enjoy with traditional... More

The Mataderos Market in Buenos Aires is not for your average tourist. It is really all about the locals. Unlike the markets in Palermo or Recoleta, the Feria de Mataderos is located in the outskirts of Buenos Aires- and far from the average tourist trail. That said, expect a glimpse of the "real deal" - where local Argentines shop, hang... More

This was a great trip out of the city center on a Sunday. We shopped, we ate, and at 3pm we were entertained by the gauchos galloping down the streets in a kind of rodeo competition. It was a fun day and well worth the 30 minute cab ride from Recoleta. If you go later in the day it get... More

The Feria de Mataderos runs every weekend year round and is the best of its type in Argentina. The food, crafts, gaucho competitions and, especially, music. It is treasured by Argentines and not a creation for tourists. But for the tourist who wants to experience a real slice of Argentine culture, this is the event to attend. There is no... More
