We went earlier during the day as it is much cooler and the market can be a sauna during those cloudless Samoa days. This is mainly for budget shopping, much of the products being the same from stall to stall. Great for a stopover and experience. A minus were the child sellers who probably should have been in school at... More

Was in Apia for a couple weeks on business. Wanted to take gifts home and was advised by my handlers to give the market a look. Situated right down town across from one of the restaurants we had tried the Bistro. The Market is a maze of little shops and vendors, I made the effort to go into the interior... More

My partner and I literally just got back from our 9 day stay in Samoa. We visited the markets while we were there and were surprised at how affordable all the goods were!! We both managed to buy souveniers for all our friends. Some fans, a lavalava, a few pairs of earrings and a wooden axe all for well under... More

Both markets are hot and steamy..but this is Samoa, enjoy to sweat :) The stall holders are not thieves and the food vendors try hard to be safe food handlers, some wear hair nets,we reward those that do with our business hoping someone notices and they follow suit..the fried chicken wont kill you & the pan cakes are to die for (excuse... My wife and I both love the markets and have spent many an hour there wandering around, chatting to stall holders and buying far too much stuff. Last trip we splashed out on a very large and intricately carved kava bowl which must have taken many hours to make - at 250 talas it was a bargain, made all the... More

This local market is where locals go to get food. There are stalls with crafts too, but in general we found the quality for handicrafts to be better at the Flea Market. Very crowded on Saturday morning but that's what you'd expect.

The fresh fruit/veg looks teriffic, with all the traders sprawled out toward the front of the market. I got a fresh coconut drink for 2 tala and it was too much for me to finish. Watch the old chaps enthusiasticly queueing up to play draughts down the left hand side. There is something quite odd about the souvineer stalls though.... More

We were there in mid-January. There was a lot to buy from wooden bowls, t-shirts, and lots of tourist items. I bought some beautiful pearls with earings and bracelet for less than $50 Canadian. They have a large food court but the sanitation is pretty bad compared to North American standards. There didn't seem to be running water in the... More
