Went at opening on a hot September day. We didn't have time to go down to the Sonoran desert near Tucson so this was a nice alternative. Many interesting plants including many cacti. Nice butterfly house and saw wildlife including jackrabbits, hummingbirds and lizards. It is a desert so it will get hot so plan accordingly. more

I visited here recently. It was a perfect getaway within Phoenix. There many varieties of cactus as well as other plants. A desert tortoise even showed itself as well as a variety of birds. more

We visited Desert Botanical Garden in April, 2009 during the Chihuly Glass exhibit. We explored the entire place all afternoon, taking photos of the different art pieces situated strategically throughout the grounds. It was awe inspiring, just magnificent. I visited the Desert Botanical Gardens last week with my 81 y/o Mother. We so enjoyed seeing all of the varieties of Cactus and so many lovely birds. I pre-paid to attend an event at the Botanical Gardens, but was unable to find the entrance to the facilities because N Galvin Parkway was closed for construction. I visited the Desert Botanical Gardens both in December 2008 and in April 2009. Both visits were phenominal. I was very impressed by the knowledge and friendliness of the staff and the plant variety is amazing. If you have the chance, talk to one of the guides on site -- they can give you great information about the native flora... more

Okay this is not their fault but it was 100 degrees, but nevertheless, the plants were no WOW, it cost a lot of money for what it was, the food was school cafeteria quality, and it was just plain boring. I suggest you avoid this and go to Taliesin West, MUCH better! more
