I would not go here again. Very unclean! Garbage everywhere! Also not very safe, it felt like you where in the ghetto. There are far better places to walk or hike in the valley. more

South Mountain Park is the largest municipal park in the country. I think it covers something like 16,000 acres. It has many options for the adventurous-type but I recently discovered a fun activity for those 120 degree days. Last spring, my wife and I hiked the Telegraph Pass Trail. It is listed as easy-moderate and I would agree with that... more

My family and I went to South Mountain today for horseback riding. This place is A MUST! They have cookout rides and other acitivities. Check out there website: http://www.arizona-horses.com/default.html We went for a 1 hour trail ride as we had our child with us ( 4 year old who I doubled with) and It was one of the best things... more

Whether you are looking for an easy or difficult hike, you can always find it here. I personally prefer taking the trails along the washes, where you will eventually find evidence of water and lusher vegitation. I can't believe that the previous poster only commented on the drive up the mountain. The only times that I've driven to the top... more

Went to South Mountain last week, drove all the way to the summit. It is the largest municipal park in the world, hence worth a visit. The drive takes you up 6000 ft above sea level and is quite curvy, so if you are a nervous driver, mayb u shud stay away. Lots of desert vegetation along the drive. Good... more
