When I was teaching, I tried to combine a trip to the Mining & Mineral Museum with a trip to the Capitol Museum. We would study Arizona and its history in Social Studies and Rocks and the history of mining in Arizona in Science. This trip culminated our studies. EXCELLENT!

Great place to take the kids on a hot summer day. Informative yet fun for all ages and you learn something new along the way about Arizona and the rocks beneath your feet. Hands on makes it good for little ones too.

Believe it or not, it wasn't tourism or a real estate boom that built Arizona. It was mining. This is a great way to spend a couple of hours to learn about the history of Arizona from the mining perspective. Of course, me being a geologist I get more excited that most about their fantastic minerals collection!

This made a great day trip, to get out of the house. Much more than I expected. This was a tough life for those who work back then.

They were closed for repairs. We looked through the doors and did not see anyone working. What a shame. It looked like they had a lot to offer. Did partake of the mural on the back wall, trains, and huge tires and bucket loader. Down the street was the Capital square with lots of Memorials

We went in 2008 and had a great time. We looked forward to return in August or 2011 but found out that it had closed. It was supposed to reopen as part of the Centennial museum but have heard that only a fraction of the great exhibits will be included. We were very very disappointed and saddened.

We are here visiting Phoenix during a particularly severe heatwave so we've been looking for things to do in air-conditioned places during the hottest part of the day. We took a trip to the Arizona Mining & Mineral Museum and it proved to be worth the time and money! It is not remotely expensive to get in and the have... More

Worth the $2 admission price. There is a large collection of interesting minerals here. Each specimen is labeled as to type of mineral and where it was collected. There is a VERY intersting "dinner table" where all the food is made out of rocks. There is a portion of the museum that is slanted toward premoting mining, but it was... More
