Seek treasures off main streets and avoid foot traffic. Slip in and out of establishments to experience the galleries, eateries, and shops. Check out the South Bridge area, near the canal and west of Scottsdale Road.

We stopped by here on our last trip to the area. This district is one of the great art districts in the United States. We took our time and went into some of the galleries and were rewarded by some great local art. If you are in the Phoenix area, this is worth a stop.

If you love art, especially paintings and sculpture, you will enjoy a stroll around this part of town. The galleries mostly focus on Western inspired subjects, but there is something for everyone. I have never seen so many galleries concentrated in one area. There are also many public works of art throughout the downtown area, along with many eateries and shops.... More

On Thursday evening there is an artwalk in this area. The artwalk seems to have changed a bit over the years from previous reviews. Now it is from 7-9pm, not 7-10pm as noted in a review from 2008. Also, an earlier review mentioned free drinks and food. Maybe it's the economy, but I went into numerous galleries and only saw... More

I took my wife there at Christmas time to make up for a recent trip to the cultural wasteland known as Myrtle Beach South Carolina. If you love art, and you are in the Phoenix area, this is an area not to be missed. Its block upon block of art galleries, catering to many tastes, from contemporary to American southwest.... More

All of the art galleries are open on Marshall Street from 7-10 every Thursday night in Old Town Scottsdale. Prepare to have to look for parking before you can enjoy a nice stroll while you pop your head in all of the various galleries. Almost all of the offer some sort of nibble or drink while you are perusing, even... More

Free Champagne and chocolate!! Every Thursday, the art gallerys sponsor an "artwalk". Several of the classy galleries offer free champagne and chocolates. My favorite gallery was "Occasions" on 4223 N Marshall. If you go inside, be sure to look up towards the ceiling because there are really unique wire mesh sculptures perched on top of the shelves and illuminated with... More
