Obviously, this was not a happy day. I felt the students and i really needed to see this because we had the opportunity. Our tour guide was James from Australia with Bavarian Tours. He led us with respect for the site and information beyond what one learns in school (and I had a history teacher who was pretty thorough with...

We took our first trip to Germany and went on an English speaking tour of the Dachau Museum. There were other tours that gave more information, but we chose what we called the "beginners version" for starters. I would highly recommend this museum to anyone who is looking for an informative and life changing piece of history.
Too bad the old barracks don't exist anymore. Just the first two ones that were rebuilt for the "exposition". They still give you an idea of what was like there, but no autenticity. Museum is very nice, liked the old posters, too much to take in with the audio-guides though.
Not a pleasure tour but nice to know from humans passed in 1940's...
Took a Radius Tour today and our guide was Alun Evans - excellent knowledge of the Third Reich as well as the history of the camp. The tour of the camp can be done on your own but unless you have a thorough knowledge of what Hitler hoped to achieve, then I think it's best left to a professional. Our...

One of the most interesting places we saw! Definately take the audio guide-it really makes everything interesting! The museum is really enlightening about how things came about. There's so much info though it's hard on the feet and back to stand and read everything. I think we were there 4 hours and didn't finish looking at all the info in...

The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site is very depressing, but well done and worth the trip. You can go on your own or with a tour. Either way, it is very informative and you get to see some of the site that is still left. If you are a photographer, or just want to take good photos without people in...

great experience. frist time ever i had been to a concentration camp. freezin when you get to the gas chamber & crematriums... as for the guide, Alun Evans showed great knowledge of the whole place & WWII history as a whole. Pity our group was too big and I couldnt was all the questions I wanted.
We are Gringos and a generation or two after world war II, so it was all a bit unreal and seemingly exaggerated.
It is one thing to read about or see a documentary but the real in-person experience is very sobering and a cause for introspection. You really are forced to ask yourself why You, Yourself, Your species, was so...
