Well worth visiting although the event it marks is tragic. No family in the village escaped, every family lost at least one male relative, some as many as five.

There is nothing to like. This is called a museum but in reality is a place of remembrance. The school is the place that all men, women and children were gathered and 476 of them were executed in cold blood. How can a new born be a threat to the German occupation is beyond imagination. We visited the school with... More

Videos of people who had experienced the holocaust were displayed in all the rooms of the museum, something that made our visit more vivid and moving. No museum that I've been to has managed to show me that all the things displayed were of real... More

I was familiar with the Kalavrita Holocaust but I hadn't been at the site for over 42 years. So, when we visited there last weekend the relatively new museum attracted our attention. The first section presents life in Kalavrita before 1943 stressing the fact that the community was particularly up-stream, with theater, cinema, philarmonic, athletics, a very healthy commercial activity... The museum is the first stop to understand the recent history of Kalavrita ,recent because the history goes back to mythological times. If you dont shed a tear during this visit you dont have a heart,,,The men and boys of this noble town were murdered by the gGrmans during World W#ar 2 and the women and children were locked in...
