Well worth the visit, one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. We've never experienced such a well organised attraction. Get there early in the day to avoid the crowds. more

We almost didn't do this. It was a last minute addition to our itinerary on our last day. So glad we went. Very interesting and awe inspiring. Can't believe it is 5000 years old! We did both the Newgrange and the Knowth tours. Do the Knowth first since you can't go all the way in that passage. Newgrange is the... more

Like a few others on our tour, we had difficulty finding the Newgrange site - the visitor centre is accessed from the N2, not the N51 as may appear on the map. We arrived late in the day and were lucky enough to score a place on the last tour to Newgrange. As we travelled in the off season, Knowth... more

Our visit to Newgrange and Knowth was one of the highlights of our 2-week holiday to Ireland this summer (see separate review for Knowth). This passage tomb is estimated to be well over 5,000 years old, and, although there are many fine examples of passage tombs throughout western Europe, the construction and exquisite megalithic art are unique to this site.... more

This was a main focus of our entire trip, and we were not disappointed. It was a very rainy June day, and the umbrellas did not do a lot of good. WET! The tour guides all had a sense of humor, except one bus driver. We enjoyed the soup and tea in the little cafe after our tour of Newgrange... more

decided to visit newgrange as we were passing by. arrived at 5pm to discover that all the tours were sold out for the day and you cannot visit the tomb without being part of a tour. my advice is to plan it well in advance to be sure you get to see it properly and not just from the car... more

Newgrange was interesting and a must-see for those interested in ancient history. The tour was thorough, but the highlight was definitely going inside for a demonstration of the tomb being lit up by the winter solstice. more

We arrived at Newgrange an hour and three quarters before the listed closed time. All the tours had finished for the day, and we were not allowed on the site without being part of the tour. We were very disappointed after having driven all the way to see it - so my advice is to plan your trip carefully and... more

Newgrange is the largest of three ancient sites in the area. Older than the pyramids, these sites amazing because of the historical , scientific and spiritual aspects of the tombs. The vistor's center has a nice intro to the lifestyle and artifacts of the people. A bus takes a small group to the site and then half of this group... more
