Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Monday 21st March we were in Honiton, partner had an appointment with the Optician. We parked up in  the Lace Walk Car Park, with some time to spare I walked across the car park to this Gallery.

My own fault, had I read the signs about the place I would have known that the Gallery was closed today. Arrived here to see a sign on the door saying "closed". The Gallery is open from Wednesday to Saturday 10 am till 17.00 and admission is free.

Did take a stoll around the small gardens, the main feature was the circular mosaic table and seats. So the visit was not a complete waste of time.

Ok we visited Honiton on a Monday- when the gallery is closed.
We went over to see the external features, and were impressed that the sheltered garden was

Well maintained and cared for
Well resourced with a range of diverse seating
Clearly organised in different themed areas.
Readily accessible from the main car park.

It was a delight to visit on a Spring day and enjoy the garden delights.

Thank you.

Have been here often with young people who I work with, either to use the upstairs space to do craft and art, or for the young person to learn from the resident artists. A very friendly team of staff and volunteers who are always helpful, and some great exhibitions. Well worth a visit for an hour or two when in Honiton.

This gallery is a jewel in Honiton's crown. The staff introduced me to a 0% finance scheme for acquiring artworks and smoothly processed the transaction - I was delighted to end up owning three objects which I've since had framed. Careful you don't exceed your paid-for parking time in the adjacent car-park! - easy to do. Interesting seating area in garden.

We did not know about this place but happened by it when we parked our car and there it was, the Thelma Hulbert Gallery right in front of us.
We were planning to go for lunch, but this place simply beckoned us to step in and so we did. What we discovered was a place that was both educational and fun for the young and old.
During our visit, the gallery was showcasing automata and moving mechanical structures. It was a fascinating exhibition that even allowed one to handle the displays to see how they worked.
The gallery staff were both friendly and helpful, and this visit turned out to be altogether a pleasant surprise and a fun experience.

We popped in to see the South West open exhibition and there was some very good art on display. The gallery had hung the work well and not being crowded, we had plenty of time to look at the works, discuss the art and enjoy an hour in this pursuit. Well done to Honiton and the gallery. Thanks

A small gallery, packed full of interest in every nook and cranny, wheelchair accessible, and the most friendly and helpful staff. Lovely little garden at the front, too.

We saw the signs advertising the Moving Mechanical Art Exhibition and sought this museum out. What a find! Absolutely loved this, the current exhibition of automata and mechanical art was outrageously wacky. Entry is free, donations appreciated. Staff were really friendly and informative, and there's a shop with interesting locally produced artworks, plus a small cafe area. Go and see this, whatever is on.

This gallery and museum had an exhibition of autometron on when we visited which we found really interesting. It featured automatron of different periods, up to modern times and by various artists. The gallery is free to visit, although you are encouraged to make a donation, and it is housed in a lovely period house. Refreshments are available, together with a shop selling art and craft work. The property is accessible to disabled visitors, is well laid out, and there is public car parking just outside. I would recommend a visit
