We were so very happy to make a connection with Natalie and the Literary Lyme tour. We had to beat feet out of town so we made an appointment with her for early Saturday. We were five minutes late but there she was, well-thumbed Austen novel in hand -- ready to go. This was the perfect time to see Lyme... More

We were led by Natalie Manifold who proved to be well-informed on all of our walks. These included the Jane Austen, John Fowles, Mary Anning and Undercliff Walks. We enjoyed the readings in situ, particularly on the John Fowles walk as it was especially atmospheric in the woodlands of the Undercliff. Natalie did warn that the Undercliff ( on a... More

Natalie's passion for Lyme was clear from the beginning and she created a friendly atmosphere as we walked in a small group through the streets. She read extracts from Persuasion to create a real sense that we were following in Jane Austin's footsteps. The final stop at the end of the Cobb with the sun setting was a highlight of... More

My Mother and I recently visited Lyme Regis and booked a Literary Lyme Walking tour with Natalie Manifold. We decided to take the Mary Anning tour which was an hour and a half and took us on an in-depth tour of the town showing us how Lyme Regis would have been during Mary's time there. The tour was both informative... More

Our book club read Tracy Chevalier’s Remarkable Creatures which is about Mary Anning's life and her talent for finding fossils. Clearly the remarkable creatures include both Mary Anning and the dinosaurs. As we all live within 10 miles of Lyme Regis, I suggested that a walking tour of the Lyme Regis that Mary Anning would have known. Natalie was very... More

My initial reservations about booking two walking tours with Literary Lyme turned out to be completely unfounded. My party consisted of two very well read women and two totally non literary men, there primarily to accompany their wives! I need not have worried. Literary Lyme's Fowles walk and a bespoke Austen walk combined with some local Lyme Regis history proved... More
