A very attractive place set overlooking the valley with great views especially if one climbs the 50+ steps up the tower. Loved it. Fascinating place. Great gift shop too. Very knowledgeable staff on hand to assist you as you look around.Beautiful grounds and gardens. Have been a few times. Only disappointing thing was that it was not open on Saturdays when I went but maybe that has changed now

Gardens and tea rooms dont open till 12:00 and the house doesnt open till 13:00. But it was worth the wait, nice lunch and the rooms were interesting and the guides were knowledgebale and the gardens were worth a walk round

This is a great place to visit on a fine day. The views from the castle gardens are beautiful. The history is very interesting - particularly liked the story about Charles Dickens. A good place to take school children... but watch out for opening times.

With its Norman gateway and fantastic display it shows how life used to be. All the family really enjoyed it.

A little bit more than your usual country house/castle experience. It is a real castle, and the grounds are interesting too, not too big, great views.
