The description and demonstration of how they cure and process sheep skins was the highlight of our trip to Skye. If you don't want to take up space in your luggage with a huge skin, they will ship it home for you. Don't miss this place when you visit Isle of Skye.

At first you might think this is animal cruelty, but in all reality, if we are to eat the meat, what of the lambskins? Isn't that why there are Ugg boots? Brits love their lamb, so they have to do something with the rest. This was a nice surprise in a kind of desolate area. The tannery is interesting enough,... More

This was a fun stop. We didn't have time to do a tour but went straight to the showroom and finally decided on a Jacob sheepskin for our couch, it's so awesome. Paid 75 GBP which seems like a steal for where I'm from. It does smell like a petting zoo if you stick your nose in it, and our... More

The people were lovely and took time to explain everything. Nothing was too much trouble, and they had an amazing array of different skins at different prices - but the were helpful and never put you under pressure to buy anything (although we did)!

Lovely visit to a traditional tannery dealing only in sheepskins. They have some exquisite sheepskin merchandise, including Hairy Haggis hand puppets and fabulous (£5) hot-water-bottle covers (£59) and beautiful sheepskin rugs. Kids were entertained by a very kind lady called Leslie, who had them combing a sheepskin each, points awarded etc - she was just lovely. The tour was about... More

It was interesting to see how they get from the sheep to the sheepskin rugs, and the location is really beautiful. Because I like all things sheepy and woolly, I continued down the winding road. Yes, it is winding, wild, remote and so beautiful! Just along from this place is the best wool shop I've ever been to - the... More

The staff at the Tannery were very friendly and the Tannery is set in a lovely location. TAke the opportunity to view their products, very reasonably priced. While there visit the village of waternish for a coffee or drink in bar. Dogs welcome x

Among the variety of attractions on Skye, we made the somewhat winding road trek to Skye Skins, and it was well worth the effort to find it. Denise the friendly guide gave us a very informative, interesting tour of the small tannery where they use traditional methods to tan sheep hides. She answered all our many quesitons and made the...
