After overcoming numerous obstacles (Persistent touts/agents, Long wait for tickets, little bit unruly crowd etc. etc.), when you enter a Gondola and start your journey upwards, all your fatigues/tiredness will simply vanish and you'll get an experience of a life-time. We visited this wonderful place on the 9th of May, 2012 and really enjoyed it. The journey from Srinagar took... More

Safe to ride. Do both leg. Must carry proper gear suitable for ice. Plan in advance. For example, if you are at srinagar buy ticket for gaondola. Prefer to stay at gulmarg. No problem for food.

The ride is great, we had snowfall on kevel one on 1st of May.......... We could not go to second level as it was closed due to weather. One must visit Gulmarg only when fresh snow or snowfall is likely. Guides can get tickets from "back door" because they have separate queue / window on the back side of the... More

The second phase of Gondola was a lifetime experience we will never forget. It takes you to the top of a snow covered mountain. Amazing views. But have to be lucky as weather changes rapidly. It is advisable to start early in the morning.

Leaving Gondola, I haven't found anything eye catching in Gulmarg. At Gondola the Tourist are at the hands of cheaters or the middleman. The agents can get tickets from the back door and they can have more than 10 tickets, but the tourist can only purchase 10 tickets at a time. The agents should be banned.

Go to phase 1 if you want to ski. Didnt go to phase 2 since it was closed. Do go early if you want to go to phase 2. It takes you right at the top of the snow mountain and I am sure it must be awesome.

Go for the second stop. It is lesser crowded, clean and beautiful. The first stop is very dirty, may be because more number of people go till there. Leave for Gondola a bit early in the morning, say around 9-9:30 as there is a long queue at the ticket counter as well as the starting point.
