Took tour to Petra from Eilat with Ecodesert tours. Good value for money, very informative. Our guide was Ali and only 12 people on tour. Very hot there but he was very patient and took things slowly especially with the children. Thoroughly recommend this tour even though it is slightly more expensive than the other companies. Crossing the border was... more

I've read most of the reviews. Agree with almost all of them. Went on the 16th of June '09. Yes, it was hot. I'll recommend a tour. Our guide was just not so whow. We felt as if he rushed through his info. We booked through JeepSee and it costs all up 640 Israeli Shekel. Hand over your passport -... more

The hike through Petra is continuously interesting and actually offers some shady relief at times due to the high rocks around the walking paths. There are many fascinating pieces of history to enjoy as well as the natural beauty of the area. There are adequate tourist facilities on site. more

Petra is an amazing, once in a lifetime must-see site. The entry price is not too bad, but as you really need three days to even scatch the surface it does tot up. We were lucky, having worked for a month on an archaeological project we were granted free entry. I remember thinking I would definitely be happy to pay... more

One thing that it is difficult to imagine before going to Petra is it's sheer size. It is a walk downhill just to get to the Siq, then a 1.5k walk to get to the bit that Indiana Jones was filmed and then..... A Whole City with mountains and high places and tombs, and an amphitheatre and a church and... more

We have just come back from an amazing tour to Petra and Wadi Rum, which Desert Eco Tours has planned for us. The tour was excellent and it certainly exceeded our expectations. The set of sites to visit was well thought out and our guide was always attentive to our special issues. Everything went more than smoothly, and the night... more

Thousands of years ago, it was one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and it is still holding the title. I could never describe it properly, but this place will move even the most jaded and blase traveller. Use the horses or camels going in and think of the explorers who rediscovered Petra after it being "lost" in the... more

We hired our guide, Faleh, at the entrance to Petra. He approached us as he was offering an all day tour for the price of 2 hours with the official site guides. We may have sacrificed some historical guidance which can be obtained by the official guides but we received a cultural experience far richer in exchange...besides, we figured we... more

I hunted extensively for information on this trip before my visit to Taba and found it hard to find, so here is some info that you may find useful: Do not use the Thomson/First Choice/ Thomas Cook trips. They have collaborated to fix the price because Taba is a remote place and few people look around for a better deal.... more
