It is worth the effort to climb the steps to the Castle--about 1000 of them, just to the first level. The views are incredible. One hint, you can drive up the back, if you don't want to climb the stairs.

The views were tremendous; great gloomy dungeons; refreshing approach to "Elf an safety" (non-existent); achy calves from descending the stairs but a sense of achievement.

This is a don't miss attraction in Nafplio. Though taxi service to the top is an option, my husband and I climbed all 850+ steps to the top - scary but so rewarding for the views you capture on your camera.
