The Berkeley area has tons of interesting shops. I highly recommend a visit for anyone who is in the Bay Area for any length of time. I can't think of a much better place to kill time for those who appreciate unique and eclecic shopping. A great urban and trendy place to explore. more
There are many interesting shops and studios on 4th street, and much more than clothing stores. Many shops are unique, offer affordable merchandise, and are long term Berkeley small businesses. Stores include, but are not limited to: coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, a great yoga studio, a fabulous scrapbook store that offers classes, an elegant gardening store, jeweler, stores for housewares,... more
The stores are nice- the majority of them are clothing stores and restaurants. The street is clean and up-scale. The stores are seemed rather ritzy to me- I don't know if I would feel comfortable going into any of the restaurants in just a T-shirt and blue jeans. Shattuck is better, in my opinion, and Telegraph is better yet. more
