Just got back from a week in Anza Borrego and found this lovely desert park to be awesome. It was a very quite trip and rarely ever saw anybody else on the trails. All of the trails were great and well worth doing. Anza Borrego has more plant life than the other California and Utah desert park. It is full... more

Font's Point is a true gem. Hidden in the Borrego Badlands and only found through the use of a tiny sign at the side of the road, the Point involves a lengthy trek up a dry riverbed which is packed with loose and hard sand and gravel. The drive up is a tough one for a novice, and tougher still... more

Nice desert park but Joshua Tree is still a way better facility. However, this one is free?! Only if you want to use the camp site to the NW of the visitor center, then you have to pay. We briefly visited the place and hiked a little bit over this past Easter Sunday. They have a very nice visitor center,... more

We prefer to hike in the desert to leave minimal damage (as compared with an off-road vehicle), but are limited in terms of how long a hike we can take with two very small children. The Palm Canyon Hike at Anza-Borrego SP was excellent for us. We went at the height of the wildflower bloom and the kids were fascinated... more

We have been going to Anza Borrego every year for around twenty years and find something new to explore every year. An off-road vehicle is a must if you want to see what the park has to offer. Definitely great weather in the winter, but beautiful flowers in spring. Great off-road trails, amazing animals (including the magestic big horn sheep),... more

While staying at ABDSTP you should not miss the opportunity to hike up the Palm Canyon Trail. It seems my wife and I are always pulled to the beauty of the desert and this trail/hike has a lot to offer. Highly recommend of course to this in the winter and I can't even imagine doing this hike come late Spring/Summer.... more

I just returned from a day trip to ABDSP with my teenage son. We drove from San Diego for a quick glimpse of the desert. I must say that the map I was using was horrible, so first of all, have a decent map to get to the Visitor's Center because the roads are not marked well in my opinion.... more

We recently spent the weekend in the ABDSP. Being only a 90 minute drive from San Diego it is very do-able for a weekend or even a day trip. The volunteers at the state park visitors center were really knowledgeable and helped us plan our 'adventures' with the aid of a wonderful $1 map we purchased from them. Without an... more

This state park is as good (if not better) than many of our National Parks-- huge, beautiful, and interesting. A great 1-2 day vacation when you're in the San Diego area. And if you don't feel like roughing it, the town of Borrego Springs has great accomodations and OK restaurants, so it can be used as a base for your... more

Anza Borrego was my first real encounter with walking in a desert, and for most of the day I was blown away by the strange plants, huge rocks, and general unfamiliarity of the desert landscape to my East Coast brain. There are so many incredible hiking trails here. The folks at the Visitor's Center were very friendly and had some... more
