The lagoon is a peaceful place for a date. You can go kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, to name a few ideas. It's easy access, right off the 5 freeway, and close to town to go grab lunch after hitting the lagoon in the morning. I've heard that many boy scouts and girls scouts go there for field trips as well.... More

If you don't like crowds and just want a place to take the kids to play in the sand, this is a good place. The logoon is merky with green water but it is calm and you don't have to worry about a wave or currents whisking your child away.

My family and I were vacationing in the San Diego area and spent a day at the Carlsbad lagoon. We rented a wave runner which my husband was the most pleased with and took turns with the kids and we rented some SUPs to switch off on while the others were on the wave runner. The employees at the business... More

A nature trail along the lagoon/estuary that is picturesque, lots of birds, trees and local vegetation. On weekends, a favorite outing for locals and the path is like a 2 lane highway! Other times it's a retreat from the crowds and traffic

One of the few places you can "put in" your Kayak in North County. Kayakers do have to compete with the motorized vehicles but there are places for passive vessels only. Lots of paddle boarders. The Southern end has very cool lagoon trails that only kayaks can reach but be sure to go at high tide so you don't get... More

I took my son here on a recent trip to Carlsbad. We rented an aqua cycle and peddled around for about an hour. Great work out for me. My son, not so much. He couldn't reach the peddles lol. Anyway, we had a nice time exploring the area and would definitely do this again when we visit next year. Almost... More

Lagoons tight! We were worried about the time of year and weather...WRONG SUNNY SAN DIEGO AT ITS BEST! The Carlsbad Lagoon is only way to have a great time under the sun year round in SoCal! No need to buy a boat, haul it all the way to the river (4-5 hrs away), clean the boat, and store it. My... More

The lagoon is within a mile of the Inn and they are now teaching long board classes there. We saw the long boards in Hawaii last year and they look like fun --longer and wider than surf boards.

I was invited to visit this place to review it for TravelingMom.com. The workers there not only had no record of my visit but they were rude and unwelcoming. I had 2 tweens with me who had never paddleboarded before and they were given a paddle and a board and a shove. We left within 30 minutes. I did not... More
