The lodge is located in Carmel valley in a tranquil area. Carmel at the sea is about 5 miles away. We stayed in room 143; a luxury room with a fireplace. Be aware that this hotel adds $20 per day per room to your bill 'to spare you the inconvenience of cash gratuities". In consideration of this the resort points out this does not apply to food, beverage, golf, and spa gratuties -- so to whom does it apply? The setting here is absolutely beautiful and the staff couldn't be nicer. I was just amazed at how lovely the lodge and it's surroundings are. It's set in the middle of Carmel Valley amidst gorgeous mountains and valleys, and is a few short miles from Carmel-by-the-Sea.
