I took this trip with a two year old and a four year old and the trip was great for them. They enjoyed it as well as the adults. The ride was pleasant. Though they said we could get wet, we never did. The captain took us to see many dolphins. We did not see any whales, nor were we... More

You should not miss this if you are in SoCal. Words cannot describe how it feels to be surrounded by dolphins jumping all around you. We took a tour in Massachusetts in 2010 that was really enjoyable with many whales, but it had nothing on Captain Dave's. Captain Dave's boats are small so you have room to walk around. We... More

My family loves to go whale/dolphin watching and we have had some previously amazing wildlife viewing experiences so we were hesitant about going on this trip. Our worries were for nothing. Captain Dave's was an awesome experience. The weather was beautiful. the boat was clean and not too crowded and the staff was extremely knowledgeable and attentive to our every... More

This was one of the best days I've ever had. The ladies were very sweet, the crew was nice and we saw three whales, sea lions and over 500 dolphins. It's well worth the trip. Everybody should do this at least once in their lives. Know that you won't always be able to see whales and dolphins, but even if... More

I chose this company because of it's small size Catamaran (not over crowded with tourists), that they had underwater microphones and an underwater viewing pod. I also liked that Captain Dave and his crew are very active in whale rescue and marine conservation. I saw Captain Dave on an Ellen DeGeneres Show because of his participation in a whale rescue.... The crew was super nice and gave just the right amount of information without being boring....the boat is very comfortable and clean, the viewing areas are incredibly close to the water, and the underwater viewing pods are sooooooooo coooooooool!!!!!!! It really is like swimming with the... More

Awesome! Best thing we did as a family while in Newport Beach for a week. Captain Dave was our tour guide and did a great job of finding Whales, Dolphins and Sea Lions! The day we took the tour they were filming a segment for the CBS morning show in NY. Captain Dave was just part of a rescue where... More

Have gone to Dolphin Dave's every summer for 5 years - no trip to the beach/summer is complete without it!! They find the wild aquatic life and show it to you up close and area very informative and respectful to these sea creatures. Usually the other whale watching cruises are following Dave's cuz he know where to find them!! Usually... More

For those that love wild life or the ocean, this is a must see. I took my family at the last minute and ended up on the 3pm tour. Even though the seas were a bit rough, the kids had a blast. The crew did a good job keeping the tour moving. We saw a group of three gray whales.... More

I think dolphins are pretty well guaranteed - and are wonderful to see. Whales are not guaranteed but we were very luck and saw 3 grey whales who showed their flukes several times and were quite close to the boat. An amazing experience
