Take a ride on our Niles Railway through Niles Canyon where scenes from famous "talkies" and Non "Talkies" were shot a century ago. Tom Mix, Charlie Chaplin, Clara Bowe all rode the train and spent time here in the the town of Niles... the first Hollywood...The train runs from Sunol through the canyon to the Town of Niles. We went on the Christmas train which sells out way in advance. Short, but an adventure for the family.

Living in Niles, we have enjoyed the Niles Canyon Railway. For us, once is enough as it isnt cheap and we pretty much know the area by heart. But for a nice outing, take the train, later, visit the antique shops and have lunch at one of the little resturants in town. We enjoy The Nile res. While in town,... More

I've driven past these old trains with the beautifully decorated Christmas lights many times, but this was the first time to ride the Christmas Train. You want to make reservations leaving from Sunol or Niles. It's a round trip so plan your day to include antique shsopping in Niles or Sunol. 3 or 4 restaurants in Niles and one in... More

This was my Christmas gift to my husband. So we enjoyed it the afternoon after Christmas, 2011. I was smart enough to book two tickets for the LOUNGE CAR! Enclosed and HEATED big train car. And, the ticket price included apple cider AND a cookie. The trip was LOVELY! If you like, you may feel free to hop from car... More

This past weekend I had the pleasure of enjoying a trip on the annual Niles Canyon Railway's Train of Lights. We left the Niles station at 4:15pm and returned about 5:25pm. It was great! 15 cars all lit up and filled with happy folks. Ages ranged from "just arrived" to Santa Claus <g>. The staff was wonderful. Everyone was helpful... More
