It's almost impossible to actually visit Maverick's. Most people must content themselves with viewing from a distance with binoculars. In the surfing contest season, the crowds are enormous.

I like souvenir shops based on real local culture and Mavericks is a genuine local tradition, with quality hats, t-shirts & souvenirs at reasonable prices.

This is where the Mavericks surfing contest takes place and a must see if you're in the area. Can get chilly and huge waves, so be careful!

Not as clean as we would have expected. Looks like hard pieces of tar along the beach.

When the annual big wave contest is on the best place to watch is on a t.v. viewing the live web cam video. Don't try to go to the beach or hillside above. too far from the action to see anything.

Good pub food, good drinks, good vibe. On weekends this place draws quite a crowd. It s nice to sit outside even in winter as they have outdoor heaters and a fire. Love the quaint sea village vibe.

My son and I went to Mavericks hoping to see big waves. Between November and March waves can get up to 50 feet. We didn't get to see big waves, but we did have a nice outing. The parking lot does fill up quickly and parking on the street is prohibited, but we got lucky and popped into a great... More
