Sugarloaf just reopened after a period of closure. Winter and spring are the times to go for cool weather and wildflowers. HIking up to Red Mountain provides fabulous views of Sonoma County hills and vineyards. At the top there is a viewing point where you can see as far as Mt. Diablo on a clear day. I'm a local and...

What an absolute gem. We were visiting from Wisconsin on a 10-night camping trip, first leg of which in Wine Country. We had planned at camping at Doran Beach, but due to the extremely inhospitable weather in mid-August (cold, windy, fog), we decided to move inland to better weather and take our chances finding a first-come site near Santa Rosa....
