Went there on a couple day trip from Wuhan. This is a Not To Miss Site. If you have the STRENGTH and time, hike it. If not, the cable car is great. Give yourself time to hike (dress accordingly) and hire a guide which is not that expensive. I'd also hire a driver - as this is a tough drive... More

Nice weather in November with fantastic scenery, coupled with rich history and Chinese culture. Hotels range from 2 stars to 5 stars. Good place to relax (for the mind but not the physical body - lots of climbing)

Wudang Mtn is probably not very well known to westerners and it's difficult to reach due to it's remote location and the fact that you would need a translator or go with a tour group that speaks your own language. The Wudang area is about 1 hour bus drive from the nearest city Shiyan which is also in the mountain... More

Don't expect luxury hotels and western food. Do expect stupendous mountain views and ancient temples - all still in use. All the temples are worth visiting if you have time - don't rush them.You can ask for a Tai Chi lesson with a master and even immerse yourself in Tai Chi classes if you have the time. The whole path up the mountain is paved stairs. It takes about three hours to reach the temple at the top .( There is a cable car and sedan chairs for the less fit.)
