I took my 2 year old to the PMMC and she loved it. This is a rescue center for sick/injured seals and sea lions. It is a small place that runs on donations, but the volunteers are friendly and informative. As previous reviews have stated, it is easy to miss the sign along the side of the road for parking.... Pacific Marine Mammal Center is a quick, inexpensive, and easy stop to bring visitors. The little kids absolutely love it. A small sign and gravel parking lot along Laguna Canyon Road identify it, but it can be easy to miss. The walking path leads up to some outdoor pools surrounded by chain link fence and a few educational displays about... More

This is an actual rescue facility. You can see the mammals they are nursing back to health, get educated on aquatic life and add a donation toward the upkeep of their facility and rescue efforts. It's great for kids of all ages!! Hard to find the first time, but look closely for parking in front.

The Marine Mammal center is a small place you can visit with kids. They have a few rescue seals and the kids like to be really close to them. You will spend a good 5 minutes here and be done. They have a cool Whale bone outside that the kids seem to enjoy checking out. Dont go out of your... More

Years ago, while walking on the beach in winter in San Clemente at sunset, I spotted a baby seal under the rocks by the railroad. I called PMMC and they came out in the dark and saved the baby seal. They rehabilitated him and released him. I was so impressed that PMMC came out after hours, in the dark and... More

This is a great place to see wild seals and sea lions as they recover at the rescue center. After they are healthy again they are returned to the ocean. There is usually a friendly docent who can answer your questions and give you information about the animals. There are interpretive signs that are also very informative. Make sure you... More

Enduring a huge traffic jam to do so (don't go on Friday afternoon!), my husband and I visited the Pacific Marine Mammal Rescue Center. We arrived just as a sr. citizens group was about half-way thru a guided tour, so we eavesdropped, and after they left the guide answered our questions, too. At the time of our visit, the Center... PMMC is awesome- there's no other place you can go and see wild animals being rehabilitated for a second chance to live again in the ocean. There are high and low seasons of animals, so visiting in the fall/winter there isn't as much to see (maybe 5-10 animals). In the spring/summer there is much more- sometimes 50-100 animals in their... More

Basically a row of small fenced in pools with sea lions, elephant seals and a harbor seal. A volunteer will give you info and answer questions but nothing else to see or do. It is fun to watch the seals play and interact but only worth a visit if you are in area.
