What a great way to cross the bay -- it's part commuter run, part vacation fun all rolled in to one. It's a nice ride (about a half hour or so) from Larkspur to SF - passing Golden Gate in the distance (viewing is depending on the weather of course!) and Alcatraz. The boat itself is really nice - wifi... More

i woudl definately recommend taking a ferry if you are north of the golden gate bridge... it's not cheap $9, but after parking and tolls it comes out to be about alot cheaper, if you are carpooling it will might be cheaper to drive. the ferry from larkspur takes about 30 minutus which is faster than driving. biggest downfall is... I've taken a few rides on the ferry before. It's mostly a commuter run. The ride itself is uneventful but do have great views especially after a storm. Do bundle up! The Bay gets pretty chilly, even in the summer. The pricing is fine. The Larkspur Ferry does not have a lot of runs in its schedule so plan accordingly... More

Although I am reviewing the Larkspur Ferry, there are ferries in the same system between San Francisco, Tiburon, and Sausalito. It takes a little longer, and as long as you have the time and can plan your journey so you return while the ferries are still in service, it is the BEST way to go back and forth between Marin... Scenic short trip to the city. Comfortable seating, great views and refreshments available. Certainly beats facing the highway traffic and spending time looking for parking in the city. The Ferry bldg and Embarcadera has much to offer too.

This ferry service leaves from the SF Ferry Terminal and takes about an hour to Larkspur. There are automated kiosks at SF where $8.75 buys a one way adult ticket - the machines take Visa, Discover or Mastercard but not Amex, they also take cash. The view is nothing short of fantastic - city, Bay bridge etc. There are drinks... More

If you want a lovely experience to get to the city from Marin County, the ferry is a wonderful way to go. I get the ferry from Larkspur, where parking is FREE! There is a huge lot and many times it is "full" but I always seem to find a space. The ferry lets you off at the Ferry Building... More

I had taken the bus and the trolley out and about San Francisco but had never gave the Ferry a thought. I am so glad I did! For a fee of $8.75 I had a very enjoyable scenic ride into Pier 1. The ferry starts off quite slow and before you know it you are gliding across the water at... More
