We had been hoping to explore tide pools, but got there a little late, and it was a little cold, windy, and cloudy. We did see seals on the rocks and playing in the lagoon. Later in the week, we checked out the Moss Point Distillery and walked around the neighborhood, where we found the other entrance to the marine... More

There is a gorgeous bluff walk thru trees and the kelp beds on the seashore are extraordinary. I have led photo safaris here for my groups of people -- it is that spectacular. I'm a pro-photographer so i find exquisite locations for my students to have fun shooting in and i have also brought clients here to take portraits of... More

No kid could be bored here, but be sure to bring a change of clothes in case they slip on the mossy rocks or splash into the water. Also, not cheap restaurants nearby so pack some PB&J sandwiches, otherwise stop at El Gran Amigo onthe way in.It's on Hwy One at Virgina. P.S. - You are NOT allowed to take... More

Best place in the bay area to go tide pooling. Make sure to check tide tables before visiting.

HUGE TIDEPOOLS that are free and worth more than your pay to see them. Heading north on Hwy. 1 look for the sign "Marine Refuge", turn left. Going south, take a right at CA Avenue. Go to the end, park by the Ranger. Walk down to the shore and be AMAZED! This is a PROTECTED wildlife area, hence the Ranger.... More

We were truly surprise at the beaty of the place. Between the walk on the beach and the walk in the park we expend a good amount of time and enjoy every minute of it.

This is an awesome stretch of beach. I went numerous times in the morning and no one was ever there. The beach was clean. The only debris was natural sea debris. It's more crowded in the afternoon when the tide was out. Lots of people were looking in the tide pools. I saw several crabs, a starfish, tiny fish, lots... More

When we visit San Fran, Fitzgerald Marine Reserve is our top destination. It is located on Hwy 1 about 20 miles south of San Fran. Words cannot describe how wonderful Fitzgerald is, it must be experienced. During low tide, walk on the rocks and see the tide pools flourishing with life. The colors of the sea stars are amazing and... More
