Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Having visited the SF Bay area so many times, I’ve never visited any redwood forests yet, so for my recent solo trip, I decided I had to visit one. I’m glad I did. It was the perfect weather where it warm but not too hot. Trails are well kept and very popular with other hikers and dog owners. I got to see my share of redwood trees and they are impressive to see.

My only mistake? I took a rideshare vehicle to get to one of the main gates. As I hiked in, I didn’t think I would lose complete phone reception once I reached one of smaller parking lots deeper in the park so I spent an extra hour to get myself to an area with good enough reception to catch a ride back home! Still a nice visit!

Great for a day of hiking. Lots of different trails with varied lengths. Most of the trails have some up and down walking so wear good shoes if you plan to take a long walk.
We only saw 1 Grove of redwoods on our walk. It's very peaceful, we only ran into other walkers a couple of times in the 2 hours we were walking. It's also a great place for dog walkers.

Amazing hikes!! A great place to stroll in the woods with our dogs and friends. Trails also connect to Joaquin Miller which also has amazing scenery.

My 22 year old and I popped over for an hour hike. It is 20 minutes from Oakland but a world away. Beautiful redwoods, well maintained trails and gorgeous views! We did see broken window glass as some reviews mentioned, but we didn’t have a problem. The trails are busy at times with some unleashed, but we’ll-behaved dogs. I had no idea that such a wonderful area was so close to a busy city.

Beautiful hike. We parked at the Skyline Gate Staging lot (the lot gets full - there is some street parking). We took the trail to the left near the restrooms and crossed over after a while to get on the Stream Trail. This allowed us to see all the mushrooms. If going for the ladybugs, you would take the trail on the right from the parking lot - the Stream Trail. Walk down until you get to the Prince Trail. There was a large sign where the lady bugs were located. SO MANY LADYBUGS!!! Hike is pretty flat minus the hill that leads to the parking lot on your way back. Lots of dogs & children - highly recommend!

Go up in the hills, just a little bit, and you will find this big park, a great place for a picnic, which is what we did, or for taking a long hike. A great resource.

We came on a Saturday afernoon and there were still many parking spaces available, some of course were a little farther away. The place was clean and well maintained with many families cooking BBQ at the various grills set up near picnic tables close to the parking lot. There were many trails to choose from. We hiked for an hour on the Stream Trail before turning back. This is an easy trail that is mostly flat with shades provided by redwood trees. Even in the afternoon, it was cool and very comfortable. Unfortunately due to drought, the stream had been reduced to puddles of water here and there but otherwise dry. Note that this is not an old growth forest. Most of the trees are relatively young. There is no tallest tree to boast of.

This is a great place to go through the redwoods and other wooded areas. There are many trails and they are well marked. It is a beautiful area. Most of the trails are easy but some are more difficult.
