I go here often...Leaving the dusty parking lot, you follow a gently downward path and arrive in the middle of an Oasis. It's a Palm Oasis and you can walk a simple 1/2 mile trail thru the palms on a boardwalk, or venture a bit further (you have many choices), at least over to the big Palm Oasis where there... More

This is a wonderful desert hike spotted by variety of palm oasis, a pond and a nice desert trail. Some of the trail is sandy but easily navagatable.. The highlights are all within about a mile of the visitors center so most ages of family could manage. We chose to go a further distance to moon country trail so the... More

Really cool to see Thousand Palm oasis and to be right on top of the San Andreas fault line! Lots of palms and short walk to another oasis

Coachella Valley Preserve is a wonderful place for Grandparents, Parents and the children to join together and enjoy an outing in the desert. Ranger Dani Ortiz made Palm Trees, Desert Plants, Owls, Bats [a species that she is writing her thesis] and even scorpions become exciting finds on a wonderful sunset to darkness two mile walk.

It's a bit of a drive out Ramon Rd. from Palm Springs, but once you get there, you'll feel like you're a world away. This is a true oasis, with a beautiful palm-tree shaded pond, and pathways leading you through rich desert scenery and palm oases! It's also right on top of the San Andreas fault, so if it gives... We had a lovely walk to McCallum pond and took some amazing photos. Went back three times in our short stay in Palm Springs.

A wonderful two mile hike to the largest oasis in the US (I believe) Easy to navigate, just take plenty of water with you. There are many other trails to explore, but they are longer and more difficult, and recommend doing them early in the am.
