this is something you should do at least once in your life. There is an excitement in the air like none other. I think it is a good idea to see the floats up close in the pre-crack-of-dawn before the actual parade. That is a fun time.
2012...was a lovely sunny day. Apparantly it can be very cold so need to wear a jacket and take a blanket for your knees. Didn't need any of it, although we took them. Have to get parking sorted early as the streets get blocked off. The parade is fantastic, colourful and has your attention for the whole time.
For years and years we have gone to see the floats in person before or the day after the Rose parade.
If you can snag a seat for viewing the parade- don't be a fool get that seat and bring a thermos of bloody marys!

The parade is one of the best parades to see, but the crowd is very thick. If you have kids, they are fussy for something so long, if you need a stroller, good luck getting through the people. It's worse than Disneyland with the crowds of people

I have lived in Southern California my whole life, and I am always amazed at the great job The Tournament Association does every year with the parade and all of activities that go with the parade. If you have never seen The Rose Parade live, you need to put it on your bucket list.
Our family experienced decorating a float, attending the parade and the post parade. All three were amazing experiences and I would highly recommend all three.
