We went here to check it out and ended up getting a really nice free tour from a volunteer. We learned a lot and really enjoyed ourselves.

We went on a Saturday when it was mostly tourists. I was impressed with how well it was kept up. The first floor was mostly history, but we were allowed to see other rooms, like the house, which we saw from the balcony.

This place is creepy! when you think of all of the scumbags that "work" near here. Most of these traitors should be in jail. (if you or I wasted public resoarses like that we would). so I would advise anyone not to go near, if you must, wash yourself thourghly after you leave.

Very friendly employees, a good gift shop, excellent short videos that tell about the top to bottom renovation--that in itself is worth the visit!

Visiting dignitaries donated trees to the reigning governors. It's a lovely place to visit on a nice day.

The California State Capitol is among the countries prettiest and richest. It was refurbished to it's original splendor in the late '70s and early 80's and it is truly worth taking the time to tour.

Pleasantly Surprised. I spent the day with my nephew and kept the expenses under $3/person all day. We spent $2/person x3 at Folsom Prison. We went downtown and spent $1.25 in meters at the State Capital and took the 1 hour tour, and then went downtown $1.75 to walk around old town Sacto. I had a great day for super... More

Free docents often able to lead in a foreign language...it's a beautiful building with lots of history. Don't miss the painting commissioned by Jerry Brown the first time he was governor...governor moonbeam as we used to call him.
