This is an awesome family beach. You have to get there early on top summer weekends otherwise you need to wait in line. but totaly worth it. You get to park your car right by the beach and enjoy a full day. Tip. Bring everything to eat and drink there are no place to buy anything once you are in.... More

What a great place to surf and hide from the crowds of other beaches!

This beach is everything that is wrong with California . Its a surfing mecca and no good for swimming its very rocky and kids can get hit with loose surfboards and often do . It can be crowded and very dirty and the people who come here often dont want tourists around .

San Onofre is a wonderful place to visit. You can drive your car and park it right on the beach! No hiking down, no burning those precious little toes! Once you enter the water, it is a little rocky, but worth it! As you mount your long board, just know, the next wave is yours! Hand's down the best place... More

I was disappointed. The surf was good, but the crowds were terrible.

If you're a surfer, you know all about San-O. If not, take a look to see the roots of Southern California. The beach is not particularly good for kids - it is very rocky. Facilities are spartan, but the ambience sets it apart. There are better beaches in the vicinity for families, but not much better for surfing slow, rolling... More

For a surfing beach with reef breaks where the ride is long and easy for long boarders and packed-sand parking next to the beach. There are plenty of rocks at the water line so skim boarding is not recommeneded. Booties should be used on low tide days to walk out. Cold outdoor showers, flush toilets, changing rooms, on the beach... More

Good place for surfing, but we don't surf. The beach was fun for exploring, but not really for playing in the water, it was kind of rough for little kids, ours were 1, 3, & 6 at the time. The beach is rocky not sandy. The trails down to the beach are somewhat challenging for the kids, but that depends... More
