We had access to Camp Pendleton and visited the Onofre Beach area on base. It was excellent with someting for everyone. Stayed shallow for quite a way out. Area for younger kids to play in the water. Also had great surf for boogie boards and surfing on each end. Bathroom access, playgrounds, fire pits, small pavillion with picnic tables. Overall... more

My young family and I spent 5 days in the san Clemente campground before heading to Disney for a week. I hate to say this but I think my children had more fun camping than at Disney. Summer camping at San Clemente State Beach is family friendly and fun. My kids can't wait to go back and my daughter even says that she likes it better than South Carlsbad and Doheny. While enjoying a beautiful 4th of July weekend in Laguna Beach, we headed over to San Clemente for an afternoon of surfing.
