About
The historic property of the Dallidet Adobe and Gardens is truly unique. Rustic paths and brick walkways wind their way through more than an acre of lush gardens – a historic and rich tapestry of ever changing beauty. Small secluded niches invite guests to pause, relax and enjoy the glory of flowering shrubs, colorful flowers, and flitting hummingbirds. Dining is a delight in the shade of towering redwoods, the wide canopy of the avocado tree and a variety of fruit, evergreen and deciduous trees. Many of the trees, shrubs and flowers date back to the original garden of the Dallidet family in the late 1800s. This surprising jewel of a garden, tucked away in the heart of San Luis Obispo, could be the perfect setting for your wedding, birthday, shower, or more.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped in to see what this looked like. We were allowed to bring our dog on leash into the gardens. It was very nice to walk around. Then Mr. Del Monaco gave us a tour of the home with the insights into the history of the people and the place. We also enjoyed seeing the veggie / herb garden as well as the house that tells the history of the family. A great place to get some insights into California history. I can imagine what a great venue it could be for any garden setting events.

We attended an 80th Birthday and it was a perfect setting. Very nice weather. The gardens are very interesting with numerous different types of plants and even Sequoia Redwoods. There was a fun vegetable garden in the back,

Wonderful gardens and an adobe with a colorful family history. We arrived an hour before closing and the wonderful docent provided a great story of the family and adobe. This is not the typical Mexican adobe you may have visited in other CA towns (the Olivas adobe in Ventura is a great example). Most of the furniture and home items are original. The gardens are beautiful, so take a little time to walk around. There is also an old train car and part of a depot.
There is no charge, but there is a donation box to contribute. If you are interested in local history and architecture, you should visit. Our visit lasted a little less than an hour.

Cute gardens. Docents were very friendly and knowledgeable, had a great tour of the Adobe house and tried veggies from the gardens. Plenty of places for a relaxing seat in the shade.

Dallidet Adobe and Gardens offers a real slice of history. There are historical land maps showing the original area and how the creek helped form the land divisions. The rooms are authentically preserved. The grounds are delightful to sit in.

The garden is just excellent. I am sure you will enjoy wandering around.

There is an historic house with all kinds of original furniture, and even the books on the shelves were left there by the last owner. There is a docent who can tell you all about it.

It's on the dead end of a city street, and there is usually enough parking, though you might have to walk for a block.

It really is an undiscovered place for a lot of people, and I'd advise you to stop by.

This house and gardens are so beautifully preserved and the rooms and furnishings so accessible that they bring the Dallidet Family to life. The adobe and lovely gardens are hidden in a corner of town and are a delightful surprise to visitors and locals alike. We've lived here for many years and just discovered this gem. Don't miss it! Only open 2 days a week. It's free!

This place is right in down town, but it feels like it is totally tucked away from the world. The lovely historical home has a nice garden with some awesome trees and a very nice collection of succulents and other plantings. Most of the interior furnishings in the home are original and it gives a great view into life in the area through the years. Our guide was friendly and obviously loved the location. We even purchased a bunch of heritage seeds to take home to our own garden. A great place for weddings and other outdoor events.
