Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We’ve done this excellent hike before , the view of San Luis Obispo down below once you reach the top is truly breathtaking. Yesterday the trail was closed, probably with all the rain it’s too muddy and dangerous. But what drew us here was the waterfalls that we never got to see during our hikes in the dry season. They are very easy to get to, only 2 minute walk from the parking lot, you can hear them as soon as you get out of the car. A lot of water coming down on this 30 ft drop and great spot for some spectacular pictures

If you like a challenging hike, this is it! We went up the mountain from behind he trail map in parking lot. Didn't know this was the hardest route. Continuous up hill trek for more than 1 1/2 miles, including switchbacks and narrow paths at times. We crossed over what should have been a waterfall, had we done this hike in the winter. The top took us to a panoramic view of SLO, all while surrounded by the beautiful foothills. It was a great hike if you want to get your cardio in for the day!

So I have only lived within a feed miles of this hike for decades but it was always something I wanted to do. Even though this is summer and we are in a heat wave I decided to try it. It is a real tease to have the waterfall at the start. Only drink the water if you have filtered it. Once you go up and over the bridge that it the last water you will see. This is a very pretty hike especially in spring, however today it was hot!!! I did not do the whole loop, that was too long. I hiked to the tower which overlooks SLO. That’s two miles up and then 2 miles straight down. I am happy I did it in extreme conditions cause next time I will enjoy it more. Get out early if you can and bring more water than you normally need.

This is a lovely place. We did the small loop of 1 mile with our two kids of 3 and 6. That was not always easy and safe for them... Not an easy trail. But very nice.

all up hill. over 1700 feet up but nice trail. trail markers are lacking in a few places. in the spring, especially this yr with all the rain, poison oak every where. little shade so sunny summer days can be real hot. on the good side there is usually a nice breeze. amazing views from the top. cuesta grade to the north and san luis obispo city and the coastal range south and west. you can see avila bay and morro bay.

Reservoir Canyon trail is an easy and scenic hike close to town. It is suitable for young children, elderly folks and everyone in between.

What a beautiful, easy hike with well-maintained, sheltered trails that keep you cool on a hot summer day. Fun things you'll find are a waterfall and you can sneak into the cave behind it. And a art sculptures and swing near the top! It's a pretty mild hike too so appropriate for different levels of fitness.

When there is water, you have a small waterfall and cave at the start. Starts out flat and wide path, as you start to go up it gets a little tougher, hardest part towards the top. Worth the climb to see San Luis from the north side.

This trail is nice because it is for all physical activity types. The first half of the trail is a beautiful green walking trail following a creek. There's a waterfall in the beginning (not year round) but is super pretty and fun to play in when it's there. The elevation gain doesn't begin until the end of this first half.

The half way point is pretty obvious at an open space on the side of the mountain. There's a nice view of the surrounding hills with a tree swing to play on. If you continue past this point you are making your way to the very top. From there it's basically elevation gain the rest of the hike and can be pretty strenuous if youre not in your best shape. The view at the top is worth it though; overlooking all of San Luis Obispo and even the coast.

Was looking for something challenging yet doable in a few hours. Came across this and decided to give it a try. What a pleasant surprise this was, the natural artwork is awesome and landscape is beautiful. Can't wait to do this again to find more treasures.
