I would recommend the Olde Kings Head as the food is of a high standard, staff friendly (save the restaurant owner who watches over his staff like a hawk) and is always very welcoming. I have now visited Santa Monica 5 times, and always head here on lamb shanks night. Good fare. Recommended.

Kings Head serves proper pints in a great atmosphere. Get there before 7pm for happy hour and if you want a quieter atmoshphere go to the Bull Dog Bar. Fish and chips are the best I've had.

Following a suggestion in the lonely planet guide we headed to this pub. I ordered fish and chips on the assumption you can't get fish and chips wrong.. How wrong I was! It was revolting! Do not go here! It's a terrible impression of English food!!!

Great to visit English style pub during our visit to CA from England just after Christmas 2007 That plus Indian restaurant across the road, just like being back in Blighty. Shop was interesting as many of the products sold are difficult/impossible to get in England so it was like a time-warp going back to the 70's! Curly wurlies indeed!
