Richard is a top notch guide, both knowledgeable and personality. Having said that, this is a wonderful tour for families... however those of us without children would like it kept that way. The kids can be an annoyance. There must be some way to have vehicles with adults only.

I was told this place was becoming one of the most visited in the Santa Rosa area. I went and had a tour. The guide was knowledgeable, the ride in the safari jeep fun and lots of animals were seen. Giraffes, zebras, different types of antelopes, water buffalo, ostriches, etc. Front desk service was very good and all staff I... More

We visited a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed our afternoon. We were taken on walkabout initially with a very knowledgeable (if somewhat cheesy) guide who then drove us around the reserve in an open top land rover, to visit a variety of wildlife including rhino, water buffalo, zebra and an ostrich! All the animals looked happy and seemed very... More

Exciting ride among free-roaming animals you never see outside the zoo. The kids loved it!

We visited in early May as a special birthday surprise for my teenage daughter. Overall, we had a great time and felt that it was a good value for the money we spent. We only did a tour, and didn't eat or stay overnight. We booked well ahead of time and found the online booking easy. We almost missed our... More

We read the weather forecasts in advance and managed to go on a day that was partly sunny, partly cloudy, with occasional showers. Riding on the top level of the jeep got cold part of the time, but they provided a blanket that helped. People below also had blankets. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. I asked about her training... More

We recently stayed overnight and went on the vintage jeep tour at 400 acre Safari West and had a great experience. The African tent that we stayed in was better accommodations than some of the hotels we have used. Be aware that the animals in the park can get quite noisy in the middle of the night but we fund... When visiting San Francisco, my friends and I decided to go see Safari West in Santa Rosa. Please note that we did not stay on the property, we only went on the tour. I have to admit, I was skeptical at first, but I was completely wrong!!! This place is awesome! Safari West is absolutely beautiful. The tour was not... More

Took my grandchildren on safari and they loved it especially riding up on top of the jeep. Great guide who knew a lot about the animals and birds. Nice collection of animals.

If you have ever wanted to experience a photo-shoot safari but cannot afford the time or money to travel to Africa, this is a reasonable 3-4 hour alternative within California -- cameras optional. The safari consists of a 30-60 minute guided walk around a game preserve, during which you go through an aviary, and see cheetahs, monkeys, and flamingos. It... More
