All the attractions in the facility are grossly overpriced. It should be an embarrassment. First of Moaning Cavern does not moan. In fact little sets itself apart from any other cave. It has barely any stalagmites/stalactites. Most of the tour is spent ascending and descending a winding staircase. The feeling is that you pay way to much money to go... More

For those who have only read about staligtites and stalagmites, this is a place to go to see them up close and experience what might have been like for miners in the olden days. Being in such a cave, and walking down the many stairs is an awesome experience, especially when you experience absolute total darkness. Not for those who... More

I went to Moaning Caverns a number of years ago with my sister-in-law and nieces (who were then still children). It's easy to find and easy to access. You don't need any spelunking skills to visit there. And, when the summer heat in the Valley and Foothills reach triple-digit, this is a really cool place to be.

Don't waste your money on this cave tour. Highly overrated and too expensive. The tours down the stairs are disorganized. The guides were trying to jam in too many people together and they couldn't seem to get groups up without getting in the way of people coming down. If they coordinated their tours it could have been a bit better.... More

There are several things to do, but we took the 45 minute tour of the cave. We are talking a straight down trip by rope or stairs. We took the 250 plus stairs down and the (seemingly 4,000) steps back up. Narrow stairway blasted through rock and then a remarkable metal spiral stairs (think Statue of Liberty). Tour was interesting... More

We just recently stopped here on a trip and did not have any expectations. The cavern is an amazing natural phenomenon. We just took the walking tour...or should I say stair climbing tour. It was a bit pricy, but I thought it was worth it....especially when you compare the experience to that of going to the movies. We had a... More

My family made our first visit to Mianing Caverns, one of many caves to explore in California Gold Country. This place has the extras that others don't and we had a great time. It is beautiful, winding drive into the Sierra Foothills to this cave. We enjoyed a picnic lunch while watching people whiz by on the two 1500' long... More

Fun place to check out caves. Def worth a visit. I have been quite a few times. The zip line is pretty cool and they have a bunch of tables to hang out, bring a lunch and chill with the family.

Moaning Caverns, with it's open daily schedule- offers adventurers ample opportunities to explore both below and above the earth's surface. They generously invite you to try rappeling or zip lining on your birthday for free. This year I celebrated my 55 (yikes) birthday soaring thru the oak tree canopy on the zip line. The ride is 60 seconds of pure... More
