Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So close to home and yet you feel as if you're in the wilderness. Many trails abound, for all skill levels and at all points, you'll see natural beauty and sometimes, a few animals. It's a fun getaway whether you just have an hour or want to bring a picnic and spend the day.

The hills are a most incredible shade of green in the spring. In addition to the historic ranch complex, there are several trails for hiking, biking or horseback riding. The trails are well marked and well maintained, mostly gentle rolling hills not steep inclines. You may run into some livestock along the way and definitely bring binoculars for the birds. There is some quail habitat that is being restored. On a spring day, there is nothing better than getting out and enjoying the fresh air and flowering trees and poppies.

We went to Borges Ranch which has a lot of hiking trails. We enjoyed seeing the ranch, the farm house and the animals. The goats and roosters were our favorite.

I love Borges Ranch, the ranger there does bird and nature hikes and also farm day for children. I've hiked the area many times and always enjoy it. There are bathroom facilities and plenty of parking. I've been on the bird walk and really enjoyed it even though I'm not a true birder. I just love to be out in and around nature and enjoy all the wonderful smells and sounds. Wonderful for families and children who like to do the same as I do.

I used to walk the trails at Borges on a weekly basis when I lived close by - but I still return periodically to take in the views and wander through the old farm equipment. The ranch buildings are only open periodically but the grounds and trails are accessible most days. A great place for photographers and a chance to see what an old ranch was like in Walnut Creek 100 years ago.

A favorite of mine for hiking and getting away from the noise. Hiking can be easy or difficult - it’s all up to you.

Although it was closed, we were able to walk through the buildings and still see the animals and inside the windows. Lovely place, beautiful countryside. Nice picnic grounds and hiking trails. Highly recommend.

My grandkids beg to go to the Ranch. They are so excited when we approach the entrance. The grounds are so attractive and captivating. Friendly animals that they can visit and learn about. They also love the tractors that they pretend to run. The folks who run the place are super friendly and willing to answer any questions. The price is right, free and enjoyable.

Many trails to walk. A beautiful place in the spring, once the trails get dry.

It is generally wonderfully quiet. Early morning, or dusk walks are especially pleasant.
