This place, part of Yosemite National Park, is just down the road from the Wawona Hotel. The collection of historic cabins and other structures are very interesting to see. You can even peep in the windows and imagine life in them. There is a minimart/giftshop across the parking lot if you need a snack or want a Yosemite memento
Very interesting place...lots and lots of history of Yosemite...how it was discovered and came to be one of our country's most beautiful places.

This is great for the kids, but was better in years past. Not sure if budget problems have it. Last time we were there, it wasn't open but a few days per week. Surprising in the middle of summer tourist season.
After a couple days of sightseeing in Yosemite, this was a refreshing change of pace for about 30 minutes. We'd planned to stop and see the very-nearby Wawona Hotel, and happened to see the covered bridge at this history center, which drew us in. We're so glad we spent some time checking out the buildings and reading the interesting tidbits...

Very short walking distance from the Wawona Hotel & gift shop, this center has a display of old stage coaches, a classic old covered bridge, a town (operated by volunteers in the summer) but most of all it just "smells" of the history of early settlers... it's quaint. You could probably see the whole place and even dawdle in 30...

We stopped by the Wawona Hotel but visited the History Museum located on the grounds. There are several cabins outfitted as they would have in the 1800's. There is a stagecoach ride - 10 minutes or so. When we visited, the blacksmith shop was open with a volunteer showing what the blacksmith would be doing on a typical day. The...
