This is an interesting day trip if you're in the area of Pagosa Springs. It's is on USFS property but run exclusively by a very conscientious cadre of volunteers who do a great job. There's bit of walking involved so consider that before making plans. Not as significant or as impressive as Mesa Verne Nat'l Park or Chaco Canyon Nat'l... More

We were privileged to climb Chimney Rock the night of the 18-year solstice and see the moonrise exactly between the two spires. That, along with the Indian flute music which accompanied it, has become one of the unforgettable spiritual highlights of my travels.

When we planned our eleven day trip to southern Colorado this site was a maybe if time allowed. We did stop and it turned into a real highlight of our trip. You need to turn off hiway 160 between Pagosa Springs and Durango. You will find a small hut which is the start of your time there. The hut is... More

He lead the tour at a pleasant pace for all, taking into consideration the various physical abilities of the various members of the tour. His verbal delivery of information was clearly audible by... Great scenery easy hike. A little too much information from the guide being that almost everything they tell you is speculation and he told us that from the start. I would recommend the hike though

This was my fourth visit to Chimney Rock, and the first since the fire tower was removed. I always enjoy visiting this area and was not dissapointed this time either. The guides are always very knowledgeable and friendly. The view from the top of Chimney Rock is much different than just a few months ago. It is odd not to... More

I would highly recommend visiting Chimney Rock near Pagosa Springs, CO. This is an archeological site maintained by volunteers and the National Forest Service. I have been to this site 3 times, and each time I feel like I learn more and more about this fascinating time in history and the people that lived there. They have several tours each... More

Highly recommend the guided tour of Chimney Rock. A 2 1/2 hour, informative hike of the Pueblo Indian ruins with fabulous views! Very informative tour guide.
