Went to the zoo May 8th. Beautiful sunny day. The zoo was very nice. It is built on the side of a mountain. The view is incredible overlooking Colorado Springs. Lots of cool animal exhibits. Gorilla exhibit was very nice. Girraffe feeding & exhibit was really up close & cool. raised platforms put you at their head level to feed... more

Our family visited this zoo in August, 2006. In my opinion, the exhibits were wonderful and staff at the zoo were pleasant and helpful. We were able to view all of the animals in their exhibits. In fact I can't remember even one exhibit where the animals weren't available for viewing. The zoo is well kept and clean. It is... more

Feeding the giraffes are the reason to go to this zoo. What a great experience, for all of my kids and cousins. We took a group of 16 there, of all ages, and everyone thought feeding the giraffes was amazing. This made our visit, and was a highlight of an entire week vacation in colorado springs. There is a lot... more

I love visting zoos of all kinds, small and large but this zoo was horrible. The first thing I noticed was there wasn't hardly any animals at their exhibit and then when I went to the place where the snakes and smaller animals were kept it was the worst smelling place I had ever been in my life. Not to... more

I visited the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo with my husband and found it to be delightful. My relatives had tried to warn us away, saying it was nothing like the Denver zoo, but really, that's like trying to compare Lakeside Amusement Park in Denver to Disney World. They're so different that you cannot compare them and that doesn't mean that Lakeside... more

Save your money. You can see the whole zoo in twenty minutes tops. The only thing of interest are the giraffes (which you can pay through the nose too feed crackers) and the wolves (who weren't there for some reason when I went). Otherwise it's pathetic. more

We've been to Colorado Springs many times but had never been to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. We decided to go this trip and we were glad we did. Yes, it is small, and yes, it's uphill, but it's still fun. There are some very nice exhibits and play areas. Water fountains are rare. They had a special exhibit of a... more

The zoo is small. And as other reviewers have pointed out.....it is all uphill. But....well worth it! We were able to get up close and personal with the Giraffes.....and that exhibit alone would have made the zoo trip worth it. We spent quite a bit of money feeding the giraffes (they sell you crackers to feed them 5 for a... more

The zoo is built on the side of a mountain and as soon as you walk in - it is literally all uphill! Be prepared to do lots of walking and you may be out of breath due to the low oxygen at these high altitudes. A zoo is a zoo - you see a lot of the same animals... more

Just recently returned from a trip to Colorado Springs. Wasn't sure about the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, because some friends had said if you've been to the Denver zoo, it isn't going to seem like much. (We've been to several zoos, including San Diego.) We researched it a little and found out it is an award winning zoo and has an... more
