I had toured the capitol building 9-10 years ago without a reservation. Travelers now should know that they have renovated the dome and you absolutely must book a tour in advance!! Especially if you go at a time when schoolkids are likely to be touring. There are separate dome tours, so you don't need to tour the whole building. more
