Exceeded expectations! The new Hamilton building is a work of Art in itself. Fabulous contemporary galleries, wonderful Western and Asian art collections. Take a tour, the Docents here are excellent! more

This is an incredible museum that was a wonderful experience. We visited our son in hot July 08 and decided to spend a couple of hours here. We had heard that its Native American Indian art collection was one of the largest and we were not disappointed. We ended up spending over 4 hours and still didn't finish seeing everything.... more

The new Hamilton Wing was Denver's provincial attempt at doing what Frank Gehry did for Bilbao in Spain. Unfortunately Denver's efforts went badly astray and the city has its newest white elephant. Crude in conception and even poorer in execution, the new Hamilton Wing is a train wreck of an interior trying very hard to be a sophisticated container for... more

I very much enjoyed my visit to the Denver Art Museum. I especially enjoyed the large galleries displaying modern art collections. It was fascinating. I wasn't as much interested in the western art, but considering I was in Denver, it seemed normal for a large collection to be present. I recommend the Denver Art Museum especially for those who enjoy... more

I was slightly disappointed on both times I've been to the Denver Art Museum. The building (from the outside) looks fairly impressive, but the inside has a strange feel to it. The sloping walls give off a bit of an uneasy feeling. The art is just so-so. While this is probably the best art museum in this section of the... more

The museum is split between several buildings of varying interest. One of the older buildings houses an American Indian Collection which is Ok, but the popresentation is drab and tired. Some of the American paintings are worth seeing, but again, the galleries are stodgy and heavy. We went to see the new extension, the Hamilton wing. It is an awful... more

My wife and I went to see the "Artisans and Kings" at the Denver Art Museum. The exhibit ison loan from the Louvre in Paris. If French art is your thing, I highly recommend it. The Denver Art Museum is now divided into two distinct sections. The original building is now called the North Building. The newest section is called... more

We went to see the Hamilton Wing which we'd read about in the papers. We left the place after about 30 minutes. I've never seen such a badly designed museum. What kind of architect designs galleries with sloping walls? It was sad to see the artwork so compromised because of poor design. Seriously. They should turn the whole place into... more

I was awestruck in the new building. I loved the soaring angles, the disconcerting sight lines, the feeling of vertigo when descending from the top floor. I loved the upper balcony and looking out over the city with the Hamilton building jutting out oddly all around me. I felt like I was in Hogwarts, with staircases and doors that disappeared... more

From the clumsy entrance to the cheap materials inside, and to the badly laid out galleries, the new museum building is one big ugly mess. All the striving for affect leads to nowhere. - I won't be back. more
