The only way to get a 9 month old and a 2 year old to the top of a 14er is this or Pike's Peak. We were staying in Denver, so we chose this. The drive (up and down) was terrifying but worth it. Nice stops along the way. Crazy cyclists on the way down. more

I am afraid of heights and this ride was not a good experience for me. Although beautiful, I wish someone would have warned us how winding and narrow the roads are. We spent our last day in Colorado driving up the Mt Evans Scenic Byway. It was a great way to finish our vacation. I agree with others that it's right there with Pikes Peak, if not better. Everyone talks about Pikes Peak and the road to the top. I agree, it is quite an adventure, but it is not the tallest peak you can drive to the top of in Colorado. It is Mt. Evans. And what a beautiful trip it is. You can approach from Idaho Springs or from Evergreen. Either way is a fantastic drive.... more
