The drive is a little harder than the Pike's peak drive, but I believe it has the best views. As others have mentioned there tend to be mountain goats. Note that it is closed often for snow, so call ahead.

Great views -- eats up most part of a day. Takes a few hours from Denver.
We went to Mount Evans the day after they opened the road for this season. For $10, we got access to the top and the interpretive stations along the way. The drive was a real cliffhanger. We definitely could feel the altitude as we went up. But the incomparable views, and the exhilaration of the experience, made the somewhat scary...

Drive to the top of this 14'er with virtually guaranteed look at wildlife. Bring your coat and hat. Believe me!
Took the trek up to Mt Evans, and was disappointed to see that the Mt. Evans road was closed, so we weren't able to make it to the top. A friendly biker stopped and told us that the road is only open from Memorial Day - Labor Day. But - aside from that, the drive up to Mt. Evans road...

I've been up and down Mt. Evans multiple times. If you are a visitor to Colorado in the summer, it's a must do! The lakes and views are stupendous!
by far the best view in Colorado. and a very interesting drive to the top, the animals were very friendly and weren't bothered by people at all.
Pretty difficult to find a place you can drive to 14,000 feet above Sea Level. Mt. Evans is "Other Worldly". Make the easy trip. You will see Mountain Goats and Marmots if you are lucky.
When you go up to the top, you are definitely going to feel like you've had an adventure. Bring an extra layer of clothes. The top is like a chilly moonscape compared to the mile-hi lowlands. (this is closer to 3 miles high). Bring your own food, water and make sure you have enough gas in your car. It's definitely...

This drive is amazing and its close to Denver! The hair-raising drive takes you to the top of the mountain, beware of the altitude (13,000+ feet) which is difficult for me a Denverite to take! However, you don't have to go to the top to enjoy fabulous views, amazing plants and trees, lots of animals and beautifullakes. Lots of turn...
